Walkthrough

We are definitely sad to see you go, but we understand. In accordance with our Privacy Policy, you can deactivate your Give Lively account at any time.

To close your Give Lively account

  • Consider the steps outlined above in Before You Get Started. It’s important that you include them in your planning before registering your intentions with us. They will ensure a smooth transition without unexpected donations or data loss.
  • Contact our support team and include your organization’s EIN, the reason for leaving and any other constructive feedback you think would be helpful.
  • Be ready to respond to an outreach from our team to confirm your connection to your nonprofit, acknowledge your desire to deactivate your account and double check that you have taken useful steps in anticipation of that.

Important notes about what happens when your account is deactivated

  • Fundraising pages: All of your fundraising pages are removed from the internet, including all peer-based fundraising pages.
  • Fundraising widgets: Payments are no longer be processed through any embedded widgets.
  • Text codes: Your Text-to-Donate text codes are no longer valid and immediately available for other nonprofits to use.
  • Donation data: You lose access to the Nonprofit Admin Portal and all the data we deliver through it. (You keep your access to any data in Stripe and PayPal.) We may retain some data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
  • Salesforce: Your Salesforce org is automatically disconnected from Give Lively, and no further data is synced. You may wish to consider NOT uninstalling the Give Lively for Salesforce app to avoid losing data in packaged custom app fields, such as Net Amount.
  • Recurring donations: Deactivating your Give Lively account does NOT automatically end recurring donations. Unless you cancel them in Stripe, recurring donations will continue to be associated with your nonprofit through Stripe and carry the description “Give Lively / Smart Donations”. You should think strategically about the best way to handle these donations going forward. Once your membership is deactivated, Give Lively isn’t able to help manage these donations.
  • Stripe: Deactivating your Give Lively account does NOT automatically disconnect your Stripe account from Give Lively. You may wish to maintain this connection, depending on how you will handle recurring donations and donation data, although preserving a prolonged connection to Give Lively without an account is not advised.
  • PayPal: Deactivating your Give Lively account has no impact on your PayPal account, although it does automatically remove the integration.
  • Giving Basket: Any Giving Basket donation(s) you receive will be disbursed by check, not by Stripe transfer, and Giving Basket donation data will be available through the Reports Portal, not the Nonprofit Admin Portal.
  • Give Lively account: After deactivating your Give Lively account, if you wish to return to Give Lively, your organization will not be able to open a new, different account, but you are welcome to reopen the same account when you reapply for membership. Note: When you reapply, our system will recognize your organization’s EIN and return the following message: “Your application is currently under review by our team. Please email us at support@givelively.org if you need assistance.” You should reach out to let us know you are reopening your account.
