Our hearts go out to the people and communities affected by the fires in Los Angeles, California.

In January, fires encircled Los Angeles, California, killing 29 and destroying both businesses and homes, from the mansions in the Pacific Palisades razed by the Palisades Fire to the 9,400 buildings in predominantly middle- and working-class areas like Altadena and Pasadena destroyed by the Eaton Fire. Early estimates rank it the costliest disaster in US history, with damages and economic losses totaling more than those caused by Hurricane Katrina. California is accustomed to seasonal fires, yet the scale of loss from these out-of-season blazes means the community is just beginning the recovery journey.

Here are some of the organizations using our fundraising platform to support disaster relief efforts.

The nonprofits

A Moment of Magic Foundation

This organization’s mission is to improve the quality of life of vulnerable and underserved children and to inspire them to be brave, strong and fearless through fun and engaging social wellness activities. A Moment of Magic, formerly known as The Princess Project, is a program originally founded by Kylee McGrane and Margaret McAndrew. With chapters across the United States on a mission to spread some magic and a little bit of pink, this national program dresses college-age students as some of the world's most popular princesses to volunteer at children’s hospitals and schools. By supporting new room transformations, Savvy Giving by Design gives children a space to “just be” away from the demands of treatment, supporting them as they navigate their new lives, both mentally and physically.
